You’re invited to join a discussion about the future of the Downtown Improvement District and what actions should be taken to achieve the DID’s goal of improving downtown Sarasota. While the DID is a self-taxing district comprised of commercial property owners, all are welcome to take our survey and share ideas to make our downtown a special destination for residents and visitors alike want to experience.

A recent lecture series hosted by Architecture Sarasota highlighted the successful transformation of downtown turning it into an engaging, walkable area, and one of the most desirable places in the nation. An open house-style public workshop was held on March 21, 2024 to introduce the strategic plan update process to DID members and other members of the public. A presentation, video, and Q & A session provided an overview of the DID’s history, mission, and vision. Stakeholders were also able to interact with several strategic planning exercises that gathered feedback on identified elements of the plan including a revised mission statement, projects, and budget.
